Week 3 at Home Math / Reading

Here are a few videos that might help with understanding multiplication and division.  If your child is frustrated by the concept, start with 2s, 5s, and 10s.

Reading

Just a reminder that I do have a bin of books outside my (outside) classroom door at Beach. If you're running low on new books to read, please take what you want.

Here are a few things I am having my 2nd grader do this week. I am having Harry write in a journal after he reads.  We then talk about it.  I am also including a great resource for questioning your reader when they have finished silent reading.
There are a few language/grammar practice printable attached.

Week 27 at Home

Math:

We would be starting chapter 5 this week.  While I will positively teach this unit in full to your little ones, I did just want to include some practice sheets if you are planning for some learning time.  I included practice and enrichment (more challenging).  Students have not gone through any lessons for multiplication yet.  Therefore, I have also included a few fun videos.

Reading:

Please set aside some time to have student read at least an hour a day.  I am breaking it up in my house into two 30 minute sessions.  If you would like to have students email me with some reading responses, that would be so cool!  I am including a few from our last unit.  I am also including a great website called read works.  Epic is FULL of awesome books too.  It is available during school hours only though (8-4).  I am going to head to school tomorrow and put out a closed bin of books of all kind.  Feel free to come and grab what you need.  It will be right outside my classroom door.  I am also going to grab Wayside School and attempt to read it on video...for your comic pleasure.  I'll email you when that's up.

Writing:

One of our parents had an awesome idea of starting pen pals!  If you would like to participate please email me your address or email address.  I will add it to the blog as the okay comes in.  Have your child write a letter so that we can all stay in contact. I will start with mine:
Amanda TenBrink
7330 E. 22 Mile Road
Sand Lake, MI. 49343

I will add to the blog each Sunday with more academic stuff.  The district is putting information together right now too.

Sending you all much love during this uneasy time.  I'm here for you for whatever questions or needs you may have.

Week 4 at Home MATH

Knowing that I have not done any formal teaching with multiplication, I have decided to add a video from Kahn Academy to hopefully give more...
