Week 4 at Home MATH

Knowing that I have not done any formal teaching with multiplication, I have decided to add a video from Kahn Academy to hopefully give more of an explanation to kids.  Here are a few...

On the left sidebar there are many other videos for your child to watch from this awesome website.

Here are a few activities...

This looked like something I could pull off at home.  What a fun collection to create!  Harry and I are going to try it out!

I thought this was a neat idea to remember out time inside to keep others safe.  It's a great activity to talk about the "why" in all of this and the feelings your child is having in this unique time in history.

Vocabulary / Language Practice

This was an activity that I create a few years back just to go over certain 2nd grade lingo.  Our i-Ready data shows that some students are fantastic readers.  But taking words out of contexts does cause confusion.  Here is a great and fast activity for your little one.

Week 3 at home pictures

If you check out the background in this pic you will see Isabella's beautiful masterpiece.  Here is the recipe used if you are interested in doing a window art project at home:
1 cup of water, 1 cup of flour, 1 cup of liquid dish soap, and a couple of drops of whatever color food coloring you want. Bella used painters tape to section off the areas.
My boys doing I-Ready.  Yup...they're in their PJs at noon.
Abby and fat enjoying social distancing on 4 wheelers!

Homeschooling at it's best with my kindergartener.  We are keeping it to math lessons for one hour after lunch. We are also taking time to read for 30 minutes in the AM and 30 minutes before bed. I am having them go on i-Ready every other day.

Week 3 at Home Math / Reading

Here are a few videos that might help with understanding multiplication and division.  If your child is frustrated by the concept, start with 2s, 5s, and 10s.

Reading

Just a reminder that I do have a bin of books outside my (outside) classroom door at Beach. If you're running low on new books to read, please take what you want.

Here are a few things I am having my 2nd grader do this week. I am having Harry write in a journal after he reads.  We then talk about it.  I am also including a great resource for questioning your reader when they have finished silent reading.
There are a few language/grammar practice printable attached.
